Why Hand-Built Wheels?

All rims, hubs, spokes, and nipples have their assigned strength values determined by the manufacturer, the rim being the most important. For this reason, every wheel made is spec’d to your personal profile (i.e. road or mtb, intended use, and rider’s weight). This helps determine the safest options regarding spoke type, lacing patterns, drilling and nipple choices.

Spoke Length

Spokes are custom ordered depending upon the wheel being made. This ensures that the spokes continue all the way into the rim, reducing premature failure of the nipple.

Wheel Lacing

All wheels will be mirror laced to ensure that the wheel stays tensioned while under load and pulling spokes are oriented in the correct direction.

Spoke Tension

All wheels built will be symmetrically tensioned to within 15%. This ensures that the wheel stays true. Although this takes more time to do, the result is a wheel that will last.
